Highs and Lows

HIGH - I ran 14.2km from work to home on Friday night. Although it took me 8 mins longer than before, it was my first run over 10 minutes for 7 weeks so I was happy I had the will power to do it. I ran really slowly but still needed to stop a couple of times for a total of about 5 mins. IN the last 30mins I was pretty tired and dehydrated. Much more fatigued than before my break. I plan to do that twice a week.

LOW - I woke up too late on Saturday to ride to work. My plan now is to use this short ride to do some strength training. Lucky this week on my 07/08 Training Plan is still "preparation" (mental and physical!).

LOW - Liverpool snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

LOW - England lost the rugby. Its difficult when the ref and the video ref are playing for the other team.

HIGH - went to the MotoGP on Sunday. The 250cc race was great, with 4 riders forming a pack towards the end. I correctly predicted that one of them would crash about 1 minute in advance! Lorenzo was crowned World Champ and he put on gold boxing gloves and a cape. The MotoGP race wasn't a great one but it's quite a thrill when they all start together - it is as if God is tearing the air apart.

HIGH - no jam on the way back!

LOW - I woke up late and missed the start of the F1. Sounds like Hammo messed up at the start.

LOW - Spurs were hammered by the Geordies last night. What a bunch of LOSERS!!!!!!!!!

Formula Bore

When there's an F1 race on TV these days, I watch the first few laps then go and do something else. Later I'll switch on again to see if I can find out who won.

This is turning out to be a very efficient way of watching all the "action" in a 90 minute race by only actually spending 5 minutes in front of the TV.

Last night the sports channel proudly introduced "Moments Of The (Belgian GP) Race" in the post-race show. The "moments" were...

1. 2 cars driving very close to each other at the first corner.
2. 1 car overtaking another on Lap 4.
3. The winner crossing the finishing line.

So in summary, apart from a hint of excitement on the first corner and one overtaking manouvre on Lap 4 - nothing exciting happened during the entire 90-minute 20-car race, therefore fully justifying my viewing strategy.

F1 GP

I arrived with 10 minutes to spare after bombing up the Highway and driving along the road shoulder to skip the queue!! Here we are...Mihir..Sathi...Ravi and Lucas.

As usual - eveyone went crazy for the Ferraris (how boring! YAWN!) - but they all kept quiet when the cars appeared for the 1st time with the 2 McLarens leading. It was interesting for 10 minutes. Then a not v interesting procession (apart from Massa sliding off). A bit interesting at the end when Raikkonen was catching my man Hammo and I didn't know how many laps were left. Here's Hammo about 1/2 way into the race with a Ferrari chasing him...

F1 Fever

I took Lucas out to the BMW Sauber F1 Team Pit Lane Park next to KLCC last night. Here he is - silly face as usual - posing in front of those two twin double tower-thingys...

This is the "pit lane" set up for the 4 nights of shows...pretty impressive marketing by the Bayern Motor Werks boys...

We watched Chris Pfeiffer (must be Michelle's brother) doing his thang on his motorbike (lots of stunts etc...) - he can even do a no-handed circular wheelie! ..and he's damn good at endo's...


Helllooooooooo!!!!!...


Lucas told me he was going to say "Hello cool Mr. Motorbike man" to Chris - and that's exactly what he did!...


Then it was time to trash some BMW RC cars...I did a couple of spectacular "prangs"...Lucas did better than me!...


Makan (food) and ice-cream time afterwards. Ice cream makes Lucas very happy!...

Go Lewis!

When it comes to sport, I generally support underdogs. I see no attraction in supporting the best/fastest competitor, so I have never supported Valentino Rossi, Michael Shumacher, Chelsea or Man Utd., Tiger Woods, Roger Federer etc... I also believe in staying loyal - I have supported Tottenham Hotspur since I was young despite their never-ending mediocrity. So I am more of a Capirossi Button Tottenham Ivanisevic Montgomerie kind of guy.

This fits in nicely with most British sport as we seem to be very good at lots of sports but with relatively few No.1's or Champions. That is except the track cycling team who just hammered everyone else in the recent World Champs - in this case I of course support my home team - and they are the BEST.

Due to my preference for underdogs I think I am entitled to bend my loyalty rule now and again. And so I have in F1...I grew tired of supporting fellow-Scot Coulthard and my next favourite Button now seems to have dropped off the pace, so I hereby declare that Lewis Hamilton is my new F1 man. It helps that he drives for a British team.

So here's to young Lewis - as I type he's 4th fastest in first practice for Sunday's race, that I will view from a comfy grandstand seat for the first time - I will tie up my Union Jack flag especially for you at the front of Grandstand F1 on Sunday.

F1 Here We Come!

Despite declaring last year that I wouldn't bother going to another F1 race I have decided to go again this year, but this time splash out a bit on some grandstand seats. So on 8 April Lucas & I and our neighbours Ravi, Sathi and Mihir (Lucas' chum and parents) will head off to see Jensen Button thrash everyone with a bit of luck. Here's my tickets, proudly draped over the Prince Of Wales' dog and next to my Pacesetters 20k medal..
