Chelsea's Petr Cech is Spurs fans favourite goalie (for a while) as - last night in the dying seconds of 2nd half injury time, he punched the ball onto Woody's head, and it (the ball - not Woody's head), rolled into the net to give Tottenham the League Cup!

Lucas has just turned 6 years old. I am sure that if I asked him this question, he would get it right.

1. In the first half of a football match you play a 4-5-1 formation and go 0-2 down. For most of the second half you play 4-4-2 and score 2 goals without reply. What formation should you use for the rest of the match?

a) 4-5-1
b) 4-4-2
c) It doesn't really matter, because we're just going to loop the ball into the penalty box for the last 15 minutes and hope there aren't any opposition players there.

Well, sorry to say that England and their manager got it wrong, and went for a combo of a) and c).

...and to think that I got up at 4am to watch the match.

My suggestion that the game might feature a cock-up by Carson proved to be correct!

I don't know about you but I'll be up at 4am tomorrow morning to hopefully see England triumphantly thrash Croatia and qualify for Euro 2008!

or......lose 0-1 to an injury time cock-up by rookie goalie Scott Carson perhaps?

Highs and Lows

HIGH - I ran 14.2km from work to home on Friday night. Although it took me 8 mins longer than before, it was my first run over 10 minutes for 7 weeks so I was happy I had the will power to do it. I ran really slowly but still needed to stop a couple of times for a total of about 5 mins. IN the last 30mins I was pretty tired and dehydrated. Much more fatigued than before my break. I plan to do that twice a week.

LOW - I woke up too late on Saturday to ride to work. My plan now is to use this short ride to do some strength training. Lucky this week on my 07/08 Training Plan is still "preparation" (mental and physical!).

LOW - Liverpool snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

LOW - England lost the rugby. Its difficult when the ref and the video ref are playing for the other team.

HIGH - went to the MotoGP on Sunday. The 250cc race was great, with 4 riders forming a pack towards the end. I correctly predicted that one of them would crash about 1 minute in advance! Lorenzo was crowned World Champ and he put on gold boxing gloves and a cape. The MotoGP race wasn't a great one but it's quite a thrill when they all start together - it is as if God is tearing the air apart.

HIGH - no jam on the way back!

LOW - I woke up late and missed the start of the F1. Sounds like Hammo messed up at the start.

LOW - Spurs were hammered by the Geordies last night. What a bunch of LOSERS!!!!!!!!!

France 0-1 Scotland

Scotland celebrate their famous win at the Parc des Princes

Scotland secured an incredible Euro 2008 double over France courtesy of a James McFadden strike in Paris.

The French threw everything at the Scots in the Group B qualifier in the Parc des Princes but could not find a way past goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Gordon denied the tireless Franck Ribery and Nicolas Anelka with two wonderful second-half saves.

McFadden stunned the hosts in the 64th minute when his 30-yard strike beat the despairing Mikael Landreau.

F1 Fever

I took Lucas out to the BMW Sauber F1 Team Pit Lane Park next to KLCC last night. Here he is - silly face as usual - posing in front of those two twin double tower-thingys...

This is the "pit lane" set up for the 4 nights of shows...pretty impressive marketing by the Bayern Motor Werks boys...

We watched Chris Pfeiffer (must be Michelle's brother) doing his thang on his motorbike (lots of stunts etc...) - he can even do a no-handed circular wheelie! ..and he's damn good at endo's...


Helllooooooooo!!!!!...


Lucas told me he was going to say "Hello cool Mr. Motorbike man" to Chris - and that's exactly what he did!...


Then it was time to trash some BMW RC cars...I did a couple of spectacular "prangs"...Lucas did better than me!...


Makan (food) and ice-cream time afterwards. Ice cream makes Lucas very happy!...

Penalty?

HOW CAN THIS BE A PENALTY?!?!?!?! - my goalie got both hands to the ball!

surely ball then man = ok, man then ball = penalty?!?!?

Qatar MotoGP

Hooray!! MotoGP is back!

I watched the Qatar GP with Ravi last night and what a great race!(I support the Ducati pair of Capirossi and Stoner)

Capirossi fell off in the first few laps, but except for a couple of short periods in the middle Stoner stayed in the lead and beat Rossi. The Ducati's were sooooooooooo much faster than the rest on the straights.


Stoner is only 21 and spent much of last season in the gravel so his victory over Rossi was a jolly good show!

F1 starts next weekend and I'll be off to Sepang with Lucas in a few weeks for the Malaysian GP.

Moto GP Season Finale

For those of you who don't know, Moto GP is miles more exciting than F1.

Mid-season: Consistent Hayden 51 points ahead of Rossi
Second-half: Hayden consistent but Rossi catching up.
Penultimate Race: Hayden's young team-mate Pedrosa crashes into him to give Hayden his first DNF of the season, and Rossi takes a narrow Championship lead.
Malaysia GP:Rossi and Capirossi play out a fantastic cat & mouse duel for almost the whole race (I was there!)
Final Race: Rossi makes a rare mistake and crashes on Lap 5. Hayden races a nervous 25 further laps to finish 3rd and take the title.

Lucas (5 years old today) & I really enjoyed the season and can't wait for 2007!
